Island Physician

Saba is part of the Caribbean Netherlands and has an area of 13 km2 with about 2,000 inhabitants. The quiet and beautiful island is also known as "The Unspoiled Queen". The language of communication on Saba is English.

Medical care on Saba is provided by Saba Cares. With a general practitioner clinic, admissions department, first aid station, ambulance service, nursing department, radiology, laboratory and community care, the Saba Cares serves the people of Saba.

‍Function

Together with our team, you and our senior island physician provide 24/7 medical care. Part of your tasks are nursing home care and district nursing care. You will also advise the director. Further there is close cooperation with the Public Health department and mental health care.

Candidate Profile

· A BES– ontheffing -registered, broadly oriented general practitioner a/o tropical doctor.

· Flexibility in view of the extensive range of tasks and the isolated location.

· Excellent communication skills, able to enthuse, motivate, overcome resistance and communicate at different levels, especially in English.

· Cultural sensitivity, ability to fit into the culture of Saba and be able to empathize with the experience of our patients.

· Approachable personality who can cooperate with the nursing team in a connecting way.
